As you are aware, changes in the requirements for Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) will come into effect on March 31, 2014. A member engaging in the practice of medical radiation technology must hold, or otherwise be covered by, professional liability insurance that provides that person with coverage for the practice of the profession of medical radiation technology.

Professional Liability Insurance and Membership

Effective March 31, 2014, the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO) will enact a By-law requiring that a member in the practice of medical radiation technology must hold, or be covered by professional liability insurance (PLI). The Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS) provides this coverage in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). PLI is offered by Novex Insurance Company of Canada, which is a subsidiary of BMS Group Inc (a Lloyds of London Broker). All OAMRS Full Practice and Limited Practice members have automatic PLI coverage as part of their annual membership dues and fully meet the requirements of the CMRTO bylaw, in addition to all of the other benefits of membership.
