Recent Grad Award

Alanna Pullen

Alanna is a Laurentian University student (BSc (Hons.) of Biology) and a recent graduate from Cambrian College’s Medical Radiation Technology program. She was also the recipient of the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences - Student Award in 2020 and was the first student from Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario to win this prestigious award. Alanna went straight into the workforce after passing her national exam and has worked as a Medical Radiation Technologist at the Hornepayne Community Hospital and the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Alanna takes great pride in her work and always strives to create the best possible images while putting her patients' needs first and giving them high-quality care. Her passion for diagnostic imaging, mentorship, and wanting to give back to the medical imaging community gave her the motivation to create the Medical Imaging Mentorship Community. The MIMC is a virtual community that allows technologists and students of all modalities across Canada to connect and provide resources and mentorships to each other. Her goal this year is to expand her reach with the MIMC. Alanna was lucky enough to receive great mentorship and guidance throughout her journey.  She created this program because of her love of the Medical Imaging Sciences and to help share the benefits of mentorship with her fellow technologists & students.

Besides working, Alanna loves adventure, hockey, horseback riding, the outdoors, and being an active member of her community.

Team Award

Diagnostic Imaging Dream Team of Lennox and Addington County General Hospital

The Diagnostic Imaging Dream Team of Lennox and Addington County General Hospital has collaborated in a highly effective manner to accomplish a variety of quality improvement projects. These initiatives could only have come to fruition by the high caliber engagement of the entire team that, despite the pandemic and as well a devastating flood that took out 50 % of the working rooms and equipment for an extended period of time, resulted in enhanced services throughout the department over the course of a year. Examples include: launching contrast injection into the relatively new CT suite; adding Nuchal translucency to our OB Ultrasound program; incorporating several new Interventional procedures; becoming accredited through the Ontario Association of Radiologists in bone mineral densitometry; and developing a quality assurance program…to name a few.

Teamwork at its best.
