Earn an Enhanced Practice Certificate. This comprehensive two-part course combines both online (didactic) theory and practical components.
A course that blends online learning with practical hands-on experience. The didactic component of this course summarizes the key concepts of various intravenous contrast media used within medical imaging departments. It includes radiographic (CT), MRI contrast agents and Ultrasound contrast used in echocardiography. Gain an overview of the actions, reactions and the pharmacodynamics of contrast media, emergency measures and medications required to deal with adverse reactions, as well as venous anatomy and principles of safe IV injections.
The practical component enables participants to gain skills in venous identification, IV insertion techniques, and proper aseptic preparation. Aseptic technique and the safe use of sharps are reviewed and practiced throughout the workshop. Participants will practice on both simulated and real arms.
