Ultrasound of Ankle Tendons

The presentation will include basic essentials of the relevant US anatomy of the ankle tendons and cover the range of common tendon pathologies. MRI correlation will also be included. Objectives for this presentation include: understanding of US anatomy & normal variants, and recognition of tendon pathology & differentiation of traumatic & overuse injuries vs inflammatory processes.

Ultrasound of Ankle Ligaments

I will review the anatomy and scan techniques for ultrasound of the ankle ligaments including dynamic assessment. I will then consider common patterns of injury at the ankle, pitfalls to ultrasound and the appearances of chronic injury.

Ultrasound of the Dorsal Wrist

By the end of the presentation, the attendee will be able to: identify pertinent dorsal wrist anatomy; appreciate common pitfalls often misdiagnosed as pathology; and recognize critical features in various common and uncommon diagnoses that occur in the dorsal wrist.

Classifying Rotator Cuff Tears

This talk will begin with a brief overview of the bony and soft tissue anatomy of the Greater Tuberosity, as well as techniques to comprehensively scan the normal supraspinatus tendon. Next, classification and identification of the types of Rotator Cuff Tears will be discussed, with a specific focus of the corresponding ultrasound appearance.

Ultrasound of the Greater Trochanter

This presentation will review the relevant anatomy of the greater trochanter. A comprehensive scanning protocol will be outlined. Causes of greater trochanteric pain syndrome, including gluteal tendinopathy, tears, trochanteric bursitis and ITB abnormalities, and their associated sonographic findings, will be discussed. Ultrasound-guided treatment options will also be reviewed.

Elbow Ultrasound: Common Pathology

At the conclusion of this lecture, the participant should: recognize joint-related pathology at ultrasound; demonstrate biceps brachii scanning techniques; understand collateral ligament assessment; and identify peripheral nerve pathology.
