Bill Faulkner is a Radiologic Technologist with advanced certification in MRI and CT. He is also credentialed by the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety as an MR Safety Officer. In his presentation, Bill will address the roles of MR Medical Director, MR Safety Officer and MR Safety Expert as it relates to an effective MR safety program. Upon completion of his presentation, the attendee will be able to define and describe the roles of each position covered.

Jeff Frimeth is President and Chief Medical Physicist of JF Medical Physics. He is a Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist specializing in working with facilities in establishing, maintaining and improving image quality and radiation safety. For his presentation, Jeff will discuss aspects of MRI safety pertaining to Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act. He will also provide attendees with his own anecdotal experience in working with MRI facilities. |

MRI Safety and Device Scenarios

Tobias Gilk has dedicated much of the last 20 years of his professional career to MRI safety. He has twice served on the ACR's MRI Safety Committee and contributed to a number of publications by that group. He is a founding Board Member and past Chair of the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS). In his upcoming presentation, Tobias will take a look at overall MRI safety in the recent past and look specifically at identifying and managing risks associated with implants and devices.

Dr. Yanasak is an MRI scientist, and the director of radiology resident physics education and interim director of the MRI research facility at Augusta University. In this presentation, Dr. Yanasak will discuss common, yet complicated, artifacts arising from the use of non-cartesian and parallel imaging-based MRI methods. Dr. Yanasak will discuss artifact appearance in actual clinical scenarios.

Cardiac MRI - 3T vs 1.5T
Amanda Pauley, BHSc., MRT (R), MRT (MR), MHM
Amanda is an MRI Technologist at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie. She specializes
in cardiac and breast imaging. In this presentation, attendees will learn about the alternative measures that are being used to decrease delays of diagnosis caused by increased wait-times in imaging. Amanda will compare the protocols of 3T cardiac MRI vs. 1.5T cardiac MRI,
as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each.
