The OAMRS Virtual MSK Ultrasound Education Day is back! Join OAMRS for a day of insightful presentations from your favourite instructors and some of the brightest minds in sonography today.

The event kicks off at 9 am on October 22 and features five speakers with diverse experience and backgrounds in musculoskeletal ultrasound. Our opening presentation will be given by Jane Brazeau-St. Germain, a professor at Algonquin College and Queenston Hospital in Ottawa, and a medical professional working for more than 30 years in MSK. Presentations will continue with lectures from sonographers at Hamilton Health Sciences, Lisa Billone, DMS, RMSKS and Sarah Allred, DMS, RMSK. The afternoon will feature presentations from Dr. Jon A. Jacobson, MD, FACR, Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Lenox Hill Radiology, and Eduardo Ungaro, DMS, CRGS, from Windsor Regional Hospital/Erie Shores Health Centre. Musculoskeletal Sonography in Canada: The many paths to one goal

Jane is a professor and medical professional with more than 30 years of experience in musculoskeletal sonography.
She will discuss how DMSs can continue to enhance their proficiency throughout their careers.
Jane will also describe further educational opportunities currently available to those practising in or entering the
field of musculoskeletal sonography.

Ultrasound Evaluation of the Lateral Ankle with Demonstration of Common Pathology
Sarah Allred, DMS, RMSK, Hamilton Health Sciences
Sarah is a musculoskeletal sonographer for Hamilton General Hospital and has more than 10 years of specialized experience in the field. This presentation will cover one of the most injured joints in the body: the ankle. Sarah’s particular focus will be on the lateral aspect of the ankle as she reviews the anatomy and common anatomical variants of the lateral ankle which are necessary to provide an ankle ultrasound. Her presentation will continue with a discussion of how ankle injuries and abnormalities can be better assessed, and how the pathological processes can be more accurately documented.

Ultrasound Assessment of the Hamstrings
Lisa Billone, DMS, RMSKS, Hamilton Health Sciences
Lisa is a musculoskeletal sonographer at the Hamilton General Hospital. Her presentation on the anatomy of hamstring muscles is the latest in a series of MSK ultrasound lectures and workshops she has conducted as an educator for OAMRS. This presentation will review the biceps femoris, semitendinosus and semimembranosus and will outline a comprehensive scanning protocol, including the technique for interrogating the proximal tendons, myotendinous junctions and muscle bellies. Sonographic assessment of the sciatic nerve will also be included. Acute and chronic hamstring injuries and their associated sonographic findings will be discussed.

Ultrasound Evaluation of Arthritis
Jon A. Jacobson, MD, FACR, Musculoskeletal Radiologist, Lenox Hill Radiology
Jon is a musculoskeletal radiologist at Lenox Hill Radiology. Having published more than 250 peer-reviewed articles and a textbook titled Fundamentals of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, he is a noted authority in the MSK ultrasound profession. In his presentation, Jon will discuss how to recognize inflammatory and degenerative arthritis with ultrasound scanning. In addition, the essential protocols as well as limitations of ultrasound scanning will be discussed, specifically for the hand, wrist and ankle.

MSK Ultrasound and the Other Diagnostic Imaging Modalities: Correlation between different methods in common MSK findings
Eduardo G. Ungaro, DMS, CRGS, Windsor Regional Hospital/Erie Shores Health Centre
Eduardo has more than 20 years of experience in ultrasound. First as a radiologist in Sao Paulo, Brazil and since 2018 as a DMS in Canada. Eduardo's presentation will touch on the importance of incorporating MSK ultrasound with other diagnostic imaging methods to improve patient treatment. The presentation will focus on the benefits of how MSK and generalist sonographers can collaborate and correlate their findings using their respective ultrasound methods.
