 COURSE DETAILS:

This is the practical portion of the two-part OAMRS Intravenous Contrast Injection Enhanced Practice Certificate. The practical component is delivered in a live, one-day workshop format at a centralized host site or alternate.

Venous identification and insertion techniques are a vital part of the hands-on portion of the course. Proper aseptic technique and the safe use of sharps are reviewed and practiced throughout.  Participants will practice proper insertion of both the venous catheter and the winged infusion set, setting up intravenous solutions, monitoring the administration of IV solutions, and injecting into pre-existing lines.

The practical component enables the participant to gain skills in venous identification, IV insertion techniques and proper aseptic preparation. Aseptic technique and the safe use of sharps are reviewed and practised throughout the workshop. Practice will occur on both simulated and real arms.
